FAQ

Q: What kind of warranty do you offer on your work?

  • Our labor is warranted for one full year.
  • Floor coverings are warrented according to manufacturer specifications.

Q: What do I need to do BEFORE flooring installation?

  • Confirm installation date.
  • Remove small items (nick-nacks, lamps, stereos, PCs, etc).
  • Remove all furniture from area to be covered.
(When necessary, we will help move stoves, refrigerators & heavy pieces)
  • Clear closet floors.
  • Remove pictures and wall decorations in area to be covered.
  • Remove light globes or fluorescent bulbs BELOW the room being covered.
(This is to prevent them falling and breaking when we hammer above them)
  • If you have a grandfather clock, pool table, piano, organ, aquarium or other items
that require special handling, please make arrangements to have them moved
    before installers arrive.
  • Wall units and entertainment centers should be emptied and separated if bolted together.
  • Remove all breakable items from refirgerators, china cabinets, etc.
  • If your new floor covering is to be cemented directly onto an existing floor, it will be necessary to remove any accumulation of wax from the floors to be covered.
(This may be accomplished by using 1 cup of ammonia to 1 gallon of hot water.
NEVER mix ammonia with bleach and always wear protective gear and work in a well ventillated area.)
  • If you have a GAS STOVE, please arrange disconnection and reconnection with
    your gas supplier.

Q: What do I do while the flooring is being installed?

  • Our installers are arefully trained and competent to install your new floor covering.
  • You can relax and enjoy a good book, TV Show, or even go have a cup of coffee at a neighbors.
  • If you have small children, please keep them safely occupied in another part of the house or building.
  • if you have pets, please secure them in a separate part of the building or outdoors.

Q: What about molding and trim?

  • We recommend that "shoe" molding or quarter round trim be removed and left off
    for wall to wall carpeting.
  • Please understand that some paint will chip if molding is removed.
  • Although installers will exercise care, old or improperly installed molding may crack during removal. This cannot be helped. New unpainted molding can be installed
at your request for an additional charge.
  • You may wish to remove "shoe" molding yourself and touch up the paint on your baseboards prior to installation to minimize the need to paint over your new carpet.

Q: What about the mess?

  • Some of our operations, such as sanding, removal of old flooring, installation of underlayment and removal of old carpeting and padding may create an unusual
    amount of dust or dirt.
  • We will attempt to keep it to a minimum, but please understand that these activities
are necessary and will create dust.

Q: Will seams be visible in my new flooring?

  • We use the lastest technology and techniques, but there are some products which show seams more readily.
  • Although we cannot guarantee invisible seams, we try to consult the customer regarding the ocation of seams. They should be "unobjectionable."

Q: How do I care for a new vinyl floor?

  • Sweep or vacuum regularly! Grit is the mortal enemy of vinyl flooring.
  • Use only recommended cleaners from the flooring manufacturers.
  • When it is necessary to move appliances, do so only over a piece of masonite or plywood.

Q: How do I care for my new carpeting?

  • Frequent vacuuming will add life to your carpet. We recommend an upright cleaner
or a canister with a motorized head.
  • Height settings are very important -- too high, the brushes will not lift and separate
the pile. -- too low, the brush action will cause excessive wear.
  • Expect a certain amount of shedding. This will dissipate over time.
  • If your carpet seems to lose its luster and life, it probably needs cleaning.
Periodically, your carpet should be thoroughly cleaned by a professional.
